Make it work!

April 18, 2007

Tim GUnn

I spent a relaxing evening last night reading Tim’s new book A Guide To Quality Taste & Style. I found it nothing less than delightful and full of practical style advice including how to carry oneself well. Tim has a way of being amusing without ever really trying to be. There were some passages in the book which made me laugh out loud! A couple of examples:

From the chapter entitled Diagnosing The Common Closet:

“Perhaps you like to torture yourself by trying on some jeans from a few years ago to see if you can button them. Clothes do not exist to humiliate their owners. Please do not force garments into performing psychological tasks for which they were not designed.”

and from Let’s Go Shopping At Last!:

“Because technology does a fine job of protecting us from the more extreme vagaries of our environment, you might ask, why not wear voile on Thanksgiving? Well, because then life is one long stretch of endless voile-wearing and, really, who wants that?”

Now, if only I could figure out how to have him sign my book, sigh.

Whatever happened to Andrae?

January 30, 2007

I was taking a quick break from work this evening and tuned into How Do I Look? on Style. Imagine my delight when I realized that Andrae Gonzalo (of Project Runway season 2 fame) was the guest stylist! Isn’t he as adorable as ever??? I wonder if he’s been to Red Lobster lately?

Andrae Gonzalo

How DO those PRGayboys get such great screen shots? I’m an amateur, this is the best I could do. ;-)

WWTS?

September 14, 2006

What Would Tim Say? There’s not been too much going on in the sewing room lately that I can share with you. I’ve been working a lot and now have many UFOs hanging around. I need to be inspired. I need Tim Gunn! I never get tired of seeing or listening to Tim Gunn. I want to know what Tim Gunn thinks of my various projects. Will I hear “this is looking beautiful!” or will I get the dreaded “this is a bit Junior” or worse, “it’s looking like Holly Hobby” or “carved out of a big log”? Mon Dieu! I think I need a picture of Tim to hang on my sewing room wall - preferably one where he is stroking his chin as he often does, deep in thought. If anybody can prompt me to “make it work” it’s Tim!

I hope I don’t get into trouble “borrowing” this photo of Tim from Bravo’s website. He looks so handsome but it’s not what I’m looking for. I’ll have to take a nice screen shot from one of my TiVo’d episodes. Or maybe I can join the Tim Gunn Fan Club and send away for an autographed 8×10 glossy. Now, that would be awesome!
