Christian Louboutin for the soul
February 24, 2008I recently decided that I would treat myself to something ridiculously extravagant once my divorce is final. I already have enough fabric and sewing supplies (although I did consider buying an industrial straight stitch!) so I think I’ve narrowed it down to a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes:

Don’t these look like they belong on the feet of some super-fantastic woman? I love the color! They are different enough to be extravangant yet not so different as to be impractical. I can see myself wearing them with a dress, pants or jeans for years to come. Sold!
On the sewing front, I just finished the dress version of the Burda pattern and will post a photo tomorrow. The only issue I had with it was that I found it a little snug around the hip/thigh area. It’s not as much of an a-line as I thought. I’m pretty narrow through the hip so you might want to allow some “insurance” room there if you make it. Nothing adds 10 lbs. faster than a knit dress clinging to your butt and thighs! I usually change the seam allowances to 1/4″ on knit patterns and did here as well but I left the 5/8″ at the side seams (just in case) so I was able to let it out a little bit below the waist. I will probably flare the skirt out a bit more when I make it again. Still, I am very happy with it - it turned out really cute.
YES! I’m with you on that color. My mother wouldn’t allow the color blue in her house. Well, we had SOME blue things but only if they weren’t available in any other color. At the ripe old age of 39, I’ve finally given myself permission to (gasp) LIKE blue! Is that weird?
Lovely shoes, love the hint of red showing along the heel. How about a holiday instead or both! Paris with Marcy Tilton perhaps?
Where did the love go?
Marriages seem to run into a whole lot of trouble when they get to the age yours did.
Awesome shoes. Such a classic shape, and yet the color makes them different. They definitely belong on the feet of a woman who knows she’s worth all that and more. Good for you!
I love, love love! Louboutin’s shoes. Be warned - they run about a half-size small.
I do admire your sewing skills and enjoy your blog - but it all pales into insignificance to the admiration I have for you for actually being to walk in shoes that high!!!! They are gorgeous, I envy you the ability to even consider wearing heels like that!! Lol!
Hi Gigi! Those shoes are absolutely gorgeous. You’ve got great taste. I first read these recent posts last night, and you’ve been on my mind since. I’m gonna go out on a limb here, and comment on your comment about the pending divorce. I’m real sorry to have read that. I’ve enjoyed reading EVERYTHING you’ve ever written about sewing, and have always been inspired and impressed by your love of all things (garment) sewing. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You are SUCH a cool lady! Take care!
Oh! BTW, once you slip into those fab shoes, they WILL be on the feet of a super-fantastic woman!

Gigi - have always followed your great, generous writings on your excursions in sewing fashions and have been inspired by them. Thinking of you during this transition - maybe this is a cliche - but all I can think of is: You go girl!
Love these shoes!!!!
Gorgeous shoes! Worth every penny.
