I love my UPS man!

February 18, 2008

Well, the Delman wedges arrived today along with two beautiful knits that I ordered from Lucy’s Fabrics last week. I was going to make a top out of the gold/raisin/rose rayon/lycra but I may make a dress instead using the metallic gold area at the bust and hemline. I’ll have to drape it on my dressform and see… The asian floral is going to be a quick summer dress, something I can toss on with some cute sandals and look pretty and be cool and comfortable. If I have a coordinating solid for the bands and ties I may make the new HP wrap dress out of this.

The shoes are amazing! I probably could have gone 1/2 size smaller but I’ll be putting one of those little pads under the ball of my foot anyway and I need to punch an additional hole in the ankle strap as it’s too loose there. I’ll have to try them out on a rug later and decide then. I’m a pretty solid 9.5 sometimes even needing a 10 or 10.5 depending on the brand so I hesitate to try a 9. I guess I could order the 9 and then send one back. Can you believe I ordered these on Saturday and they were delivered today? Zappos.com’s service is really awesome!

Stay tuned…my fabrics from Ann over at Gorgeous Fabrics will be arriving in a day or two. I’m very excited to see them in person and will post photos then. I have a pattern selected for the dress but can’t decide on a shirt/blouse/top pattern.

  1. I love my UPS and FexEx man!!!!

  2. OR FEDeX as they are known!

  3. Zappos is also great about returns. I’ve had to order the same shoe in several sizes and return the wrong size before, and they were super nice and simple about the process.
Now that’s a company where the phrase “customer service” means just that!

  4. Those shoes are gorgeous! They’re so vibrant. Glad to see you back and sewing again. Your new projects look so bright and beautiful to me at this time of year where there’s a lot of grey and white where I live.

  5. I love those new shoes!

  6. Zappos is awesome. I love that they have free shipping both ways!

  7. Considering it’s mid-February, it’s about time for summer clothes in South Florida. I’m looking forward to seeing some new Gigi creations (I’m sure you are too!).

  8. Beautiful fabric choices, I can’t wait to see them made up. (And I am so ready to move back to Florida where it’s always warm and sunny.)

  9. Gee, I ordered the same fabrics from Lucy’s, but mine haven’t come yet, more shipping zones involved I think. Now I am going to be standing with my faced plastered to the window salivating when I see that UPS truck. The shoes sure are gorgeous too but I am not going to look at those or I’ll be a goner.

  10. Gigi - ever so glad to have you back. I hope after
all this silence and tribulations that your future is
    bright.

Now, the only question I have is how in the world do
you balance on those shoes? I’d fall over and break
my ankle! They sure are pretty though.

  11. I think it’s interesting that it’s assumed that shoes like Gigi’s are difficult to walk in. I reserve judgement on them, seeing as some of my best pairs of work shoes have high heels, but are also well balanced and comfortable.

I was in the grocery store yesterday minding my own business, when another shopper stopped to ask me how I could wear the shoes I had on. They were somewhat pointy-toed mules with a reasonable heel. Really quite comfortable for heels, actually. And she appeared to be young and hip. So what gives?

  12. So glad to see you back, Gigi. It appears you are inspirational to many and not just me ! May this new phase of your life bring you peace and happiness.
